“Ancient wood deserves ancient joinery” is more than a catchy phrase. The old, time-tested joinery techniques are stronger, more appealing to the eye, and enhance the value of the piece. A well executed dovetail, bridle joint, or  hand cut mortise and tenon, also speak to the craftsmanship and care of the builder. When possible, the joinery is not just a structural feature, but a design element. Exposed joinery can be the most interesting feature of the piece, and along with contrasting woods, can make a statement that anyone seeing one of our pieces can’t miss.
